Our story
Le Chapeau, (aptly named ‘The Hat’ in French – the home of haute couture fashion),
based in the heart of Newmarket, Suffolk, is the product of Georgina Shevki and Wendy Parnell’s shared love of millinery.
Georgina and Wendy met in 2012, and soon realised they shared a passion for creating beautiful headwear. Wendy had been employed as a milliner for several years, while Georgie had completed a course in textiles at college, before beginning a career in journalism and PR. After leaving their respective employment to concentrate on raising their growing families, the two saw an exciting opportunity and began to experiment in creating unique bespoke millinery for friends and family.
Eight years later and the duo have created a valued client base from customer recommendations.
In April 2019 the pair decided to delve into the world of hat & fascinator hire and have opened a showroom perfectly situated in Newmarket; the home of horse racing. All of the pieces found in the
Le Chapeau showroom are handmade on site. With new stock added all the time, if they don’t already have your perfect item, then they’re always happy to make something to your exact
specifications!
With Georgie’s love of faux flowers creations and Wendy’s exquisite crystal work, they have styles to suit everyone’s taste. They invite you to join them in the showroom, have a try on and get your creative juices flowing while you discuss your perfect piece of marvellous millinery, made entirely to order, just for you.
